Land released for SA housing development | Blue Mountains Gazette

Land to build up to 1500 homes in Adelaide’s northeast has been released by the South Australian government in a bid to ease stress on the housing market and contain prices.

The 52-hectare site at suburban Oakden is also expected to support hundreds of construction jobs and provide a $460 million boost to the state economy.

“It is a significant development that will deliver a fantastic new community with more quality options for South Australian homebuyers while at the same time creating hundreds of jobs,” Premier Steven Marshall said on Thursday.

Melbourne-based developer Villawood Properties said it would offer land for sale as well as home and land packages with the first construction to start mid-2022.

The company will also offer teachers, healthcare professionals and emergency service workers special discounts of up to $20,000.

Chief executive Alan Miller said Villawood would bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in building strong community-focused residential housing to Oakden.
